Dansk International Design
A collection of bowls and serving
tray, etc. in bleached gumwood. Given the classic Danish design
that Dansk is known for, it was important to come up with something
related but distinctive as well. The sides are thin, staved,
and all share this inwardly curved form. This curve was meant
to give a feeling of enclosure, and allow the volume to be
perceived smaller but still able to hold the right amount.
Each item is footed so that the objects seem to float above
the table's surface; the shadow line created gives a strong
contrast when compared with the light colored wood.
This collection was complimented by a set of stems titled "Elegant".
These stems used the same vocabulary of form, in the bowl
that sits above the stem. However the stem itself was elongated
and slender. My favorite was the cordial, such a small bowl
on such a long thread of crystal glass.
