Low lamps 20"D-14"H; Tall lamps 12"D-30"H
Silk, metal frame, and burl veneer over molded ply. Energy efficient bulbs.
These are table lamps. The silk is draped over a thin metal frame so that
the basic form is achieved, but the pleats and folds are part of the feel
of the shades. These forms are held by starch. These folds add depth and
qualities
to how the light is perceived from the form. The quality of light is soft
and colored by the color of the silk. The shades sit upon a formal burl veneer
base. These bases add a sense of refinement to the objects buy the contrast
of form and material. This idea of presentation is referential to the Chinese
when they placed natural objects of beauty upon small stands.
