Wenge, sand blasted glass, acid etch water white glass, florescent
and halogen sources. This object was designed for a beautiful Richard Mier designed
residence. The idea was to provide two options of light. The first
is a warm florescent light which projects only from the three small
vertical slots on each edge of the case. This light provides a
soft ambient illumination. The second source is a halogen pin spot
mounted at the top of the unit. This light projects upwards through
three plates of acid etched water white glass. The glass glows
through their edges giving highlights to their shapes. This also
protects ones eyes from direct viewing of the halogen light. The
light then washes the wall and reflects downwards from the ceiling
providing a greater amount of light into the room. This object
has its reference to Mr. Chareau, which I felt was appropriate
for Mr. Mier.
